§ 39-16. Laser lights, laser pointers or similar matter prohibited.

  • (a)

    Definitions. For the purpose of this section, a laser light or laser pointer shall be defined as any device that emits light amplified by stimulated emission of radiation that is visible to the human eye.

    (b)

    It shall be unlawful for any person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly to direct the beam of a laser pointer at another person or animal while the laser pointer is emitting a laser beam under any of the following circumstances:

    (1)

    The laser beam directly or indirectly causes bodily injury to the person or animal;

    (2)

    The person at whom the laser beam is directed is a law enforcement officer acting in his official capacity or in uniform;

    (3)

    The laser beam causes the other person to suffer intimidation, annoyance or alarm;

    (4)

    The laser beam has the potential to cause any animal to become agitated, excited, injured or uncontrollable.
